My first interview for a story was as nerve-wracking as I imagined. Asking questions to a complete stranger; praying I would get the answers that I was looking for, and hoping I wouldn’t say something that might offend them.  It was a story on food outlets being prosecuted for not following food safety regulations so you can understand why I was so nervous.

Unfortunately for me, I did offend the lady I was talking to and she refused to answer any more questions after that. Luckily I had enough for a couple of quotes in my story.

I altered my questions for the next food outlet I was going to and had much better luck. I was able to write the story with quotes from both businesses.

I have been working on a couple of stories since then, interviewing people for information, and slowly but surely the nerves are settling down.
