The Buddhists would call this “Karma” what goes around comes around.

R U REALLY ok?

The second Thursday in September is dedicated annually as a reminder to Australians to ask family, friends and colleagues “R U OK?”. This year for the first time the Australian event coincided with World Suicide Prevention Day. People all over the country gathered in their communities to participate in walks with hopes of creating awareness(…)

Journalism vs. PR

I chose to embark on my studies with the J School this year after always wanting to enter into the journalism world. On top of being a current journalism student, I am also Public Relations student at QUT, completing my Bachelor of Business in just a few months time.   It has been so interesting(…)

Goodes Enough For Me

Now that the name of Adam Goodes no longer invokes the mad capitulation of quasi-racism, can we sit back a moment and reflect on just what went on? “I don’t know much about AFL, but…” the Facebook posts would begin, as the endless procession of social media-ites who had never been accused of racism would(…)

Does the media do enough to in reporting Domestic Violence?

As a new journalism student, an issue that has increasing caught my attention is the media’s role in reporting domestic violence. Domestic violence has long been a fraught subject for the media with legal issues and cultural reasons meaning domestic violence was often not seen as ‘newsworthy’. However at least on the surface this seems(…)

blogit.com

I return from a self-imposed exile to the world of blogging. In the overdramatic throes of adolescence, I often wondered – nay, dreamed, doted, even – on the possible fame that I could muster from having my own blog. Disconnect is an understatement

One snippet sums up Bronwyn Bishop’s disconnect with the real world. Her spokesman was quoted at the weekend saying she had often preferred limousines because they could travel in bus lanes, thus getting her to places more quickly. Bishop’s view of her own importance as a public figure is breathtaking.

AMA President Brian Owler National press club speech

Brilliant observation of our very good health care system one we should be proud of in Australia and the world to copy. The key foundations must be followed to keep up the good work that is done by our medical professionals and support staff which includes nurses  cleaners cooks  etc all working in the health(…)

Yoga and starting journalism

Yoga is an amazing human physical activity.  It tones the body and prepares the mind for stillness and success.  I’ve been practicing yoga for many months now and can apply it to other activities in life.  For instance, hiking up a hill.  Turn on your core strength, focus on your leg muscles and bones being in alignment(…)

Changes and Challenges in Life

I’m about to become a homeless bumkin, or maybe I already am? Seriously, next week I pack up my stuff from my ‘halfway’ house and set out on the road in my troopcarrier van, which will become my primary residence. I’m daunted. I will however have things to write about. New places, the man who(…)

A lot can happen in a year

This time 12 months ago, almost to the day, I was about to step on to Etihad flight EY19 bound for London via Dubai. Embarking on a trip of a lifetime that I had worked, saved and meticulously planned for over two years, I was elated. I would see no less than 10 countries, met(…)
